Introduction

This policy describes how we collect, process, and hold your data associated with any of our Alexa Skills or Google Actions (both subsequently referred to as Voice Apps). 

This policy affects your legal rights and obligations so please read it carefully. If you have any questions, please contact us by email.

We do not keep personally identifiable information (PII) unless you link your Voice App (Google Action or Alexa Skill) to an account on our website or you provide PII to our Voice App.   

If you do not agree to this Privacy Policy, do not link your account and do not provide personal data to us.

 

Personal data we collect

In order to use most of our Voice Apps, you do not need to provide us with any personal data.  However, you may be offered the opportunity to link the Voice App with an account on our website in order for us to provide you with a more personalized experience or access to additional content.  Account linking is not required for any of our publicly available content.

In addition, our Voice Apps do not request personal data from you, so we do not categorize any information you provide to us as personally identifiable information (PII).

If you contact us by email or post, we may keep a record of the correspondence and we may also record any telephone call we have with you.

 

Other data we collect

Amazon and Google both provide a random (but consistent) identifier for each interaction with the Voice App.  This information allows us to provide a better experience (like knowing if you are using the Voice App for the first time or have used the Voice App in the past).   This information does not contain any personally identifiable information.  So, unless you specifically provide PII through the Voice App, any usage cannot be used to identify you (both Amazon and Google may be able to identify your usage, but we cannot). 

In case you're interested, Google and Amazon provide something like: ABwppHE3z5QU1xQLXR4CZYo7mEb5i_4wPQLxU7TKhLlDjVomx5bVnm6xltSYXBKsoB1Om196KvW_GBxPsOjBYpImBEu5nZk which is as meaningful as it looks like.  The only thing we know is that the next time we see that same sequence, it's the same person.

We keep this usage information so that we can let you know if there is something new that you have not heard already and to provide our content providers with usage statistics like how many people are accessing their content.

In addition, we record terms that you use to ask the Voice App to find content for you.  We use these search terms to ensure the Voice App is providing you with accurate results and with the best experience.

 

Marketing Communications

You can subscribe to receive marketing communications from us by giving us your email address. 

You can choose to no longer receive marketing communications by contacting us or clicking unsubscribe from a marketing email. If you do unsubscribe to marketing communications, it may take up to 5 business days for your new preferences to take effect. We will retain your email address in our records to ensure we honor your request to either receive (or not receive) marketing material.

The simple act of using any of our Voice Apps will NOT be used as consent for any marketing communication.

 

Security

We will take reasonable and prudent actions to ensure the appropriate security of your personal data, including protection against unauthorized or unlawful processing and against accidental loss, destruction, or damage. 

However, you acknowledge that no system can be completely secure. Therefore, although we take these steps to secure your personal data, we do not promise that your personal data will always remain completely secure.

  

Request for Privacy

First, you will need to unlink the Voice App from your account on the website.  This will limit the Voice App to only providing publically available information (in other words, you will no longer have access to any information that is related to your account on the website, including any special content.)

In addition, if you provided personal data directly to the Voice App and later wish to have it removed, please contact us and let us know what information you would like removed.
